This Thanksgiving season, try some of these fun and easy themed activities for kids. These revolve around movement, fine motor skills, speech, and other areas to help children learn and grow!

Turkey Trot

Make a kids version of a turkey trot by putting a little list of movement together. For example:

  • marching steps
  • turkey clucks
  • jumping jacks
  • log roll

You can use the movements in a variety of ways. Have them do 10 of each activity, or use Simon Says.

If you’re not sure what that is, a sensory bin is an occupational therapy tool that helps in a variety of ways, including improving fine motor skills and cognitive thinking.  You can make a box full of autumn-esque and Thanksgiving themed sensory items…varying items with different textures and colors.  Items could include pine cones or acorns, mini pumpkins, cinnamon sticks, cooking utensils, etc. Google has ideas galore!
