This Thanksgiving season, try some of these fun and easy themed activities for kids. These revolve around movement, fine motor skills, speech, and other areas to help children learn and grow!
Make a kids version of a turkey trot by putting a little list of movement together. For example:
You can use the movements in a variety of ways. Have them do 10 of each activity, or use Simon Says.
If you’re not sure what that is, a sensory bin is an occupational therapy tool that helps in a variety of ways, including improving fine motor skills and cognitive thinking. You can make a box full of autumn-esque and Thanksgiving themed sensory items…varying items with different textures and colors. Items could include pine cones or acorns, mini pumpkins, cinnamon sticks, cooking utensils, etc. Google has ideas galore!
This time of year has a great selection of books about the holiday! You can buy them borrow them from the library, or, here are some of our favorites read aloud on YouTube:
Color leaves, pumpkins, turkey, and other Halloween themed pages! Google has some great free coloring pages you can find, print off, and let kids color! Focus on selecting different color and coloring inside the lines.
